BLOMEYER & SANZ HAS CONDUCTED A STUDY ON FINANCING OF POLITICAL STRUCTURES IN EU MEMBER STATES
Blomeyer & Sanz, together with experts on political finances, has conducted a study for the European Parliament on ‘Financing of political structures in EU Member States – How Funding is provided to national political parties, their foundations and parliamentary political groups, and how the use of funds is controlled’. The study examines the rules and regulations on financing of political entities, namely the rules governing the sources of financing, their spending, rules on reporting as well as disclosure of the finances. The study offers an overview of these rules for all 27 EU Member States and through six case studies analyses the following key issues in more detail: state subsides of parties; public funding for parliamentary groups; rules on reporting and disclosure; financing of political foundations; regulation of third parties and social media campaigning.
