From September 2025 to January 2026, Blomeyer & Sanz conducted the final evaluation of the ‘Strengthening of the Migration and Asylum Management System in the Republic of North Macedonia (MANOMA)’ project. This endline evaluation was conducted in the context of our multi-year programme evaluation of the Migration Partnership Facility (MPF) III and IV, through which MANOMA is funded. It was implemented by the European Project Implementation Centre of the Ministry of Interior and Administration (EPIC MoIA) of the Republic of Poland in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of North Macedonia. MANOMA worked to enhance the capacities of border‑management authorities to detect irregular migration, protect vulnerable individuals and apply rights‑based border management through culturally and gender‑responsive operational practices. Through workshops in Skopje, North Macedonia (pictured above), study visits to Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia, and specialised return‑escort training, participants observed EU procedures in practice, validated existing approaches and acquired techniques to reinforce human‑rights‑compliant and intelligence‑informed border management.
