In March 2022, and in the context of an evaluation of European Commission support for Turkey in the migration sector, we have conducted a data collection mission to Adana in Southern Turkey, close to the Mediterranean and the border with Syria. The mission involved visits to two removal centres funded by the European Union and discussions with relevant stakeholders (province-level representatives of the Presidency of Migration Management, Adana Bar Association, Civil Society Organisations). The visit will inform the preparation of an evaluation report covering three major EU interventions, comprising refurbishment and construction of removal centres and the corresponding supplies.
