As part of Blomeyer & Sanz’s efforts to advance project-level evaluation within the framework of the Migration Partnership Facility (MPF), members of the team travelled to Turku, Finland, last December to strengthen data collection efforts and deepen their understanding of project implementation on the ground.
Aligned with the overarching objective of the MPF, to support the European Union’s external dimension of migration policy, the visit focused on a labour mobility project between Pakistan and Finland.
Being present in the field provided the team a valuable opportunity to engage directly with project implementers, allowing for a more nuanced understanding of the project’s context, operational dynamics, and local realities. Observing how project activities translate into practice offered important insights into both enabling factors and implementation challenges. Field visits play a vital role not only in enhancing the quality of findings but also in validating assumptions and assessing how project designs interact with contextual factors in an attentive way to hear the voices of those closest to implementation.
