Mapping the current structure and discovering the potential of ‘other revenue’

Led by the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO), Blomeyer & Sanz and the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (wiiw) have contributed to a new research study that examines into the concept of ‘other revenue’ within the EU’s financial framework, offering key insights into its current role and potential future significance.

The study begins by laying the conceptual foundations and defining what constitutes ‘other revenue’ in the EU context. It then maps out the various categories of other revenue, highlighting their development and trends over time.

Finally, the study discusses options for strengthening the role of other revenue in the EU system. It explores both existing sources and identifies potential new avenues for revenue generation, offering valuable perspectives for future policy considerations.
