Research paper on common minimum standards of civil procedure |
This research paper is organised in three sections. Section 1 discusses whether and why action at the EU level is necessary in the area of private procedural law. Section 2 presents the EU competencies for action in the area of civil procedure law, and options for action. Section 3 shows the added value of harmonisation at the EU level for European citizens and businesses, focusing on the quantification of possible benefits of common minimum standards (CMS) of civil procedure or other harmonisation initiatives. |

The social and economic impact of the penalty point system |
This research study focuses on the social and economic impact of the penalty point system for serious fisheries infringements. Stakeholders highlight concerns relating lack of transparency, problems of accountability, and lack of participation. Further, this report flags concerns that different implementation of the system on the national level negatively impacts smaller vessels and those fishing species with tight quotas or higher risk of bycatch. |

The use of EU funds in Member States in partnership with companies (contractors or subcontractors) outside of a given Member State |
This study provides a deeper understanding of contracts awarded by European Union Member States. Between 2012 and 2014, EU Member States awarded 113,749 contracts, related to EU funds, amounting to 116.17 billion EUR. Approximately 90% of these contracts (by value) were awarded to contract operators within the respective Member State. There were 2,882 cross-border contracts amounting to approximately 9.14 billion EUR. |
